🌀 Real Life
"The hoop lives in my office drawer. And yes, I use it during lunch break."
I have a little secret.
The hoop lives in my office drawer. Right next to my notebooks and spare pens.
During lunch break — when most people are eating or scrolling — I take it out.
A few spins. A little stretch. A moment of movement in the middle of a workday.
"It's not about spinning for hours. It's about showing up — even for a few minutes."
I don't spin a hundred rounds. I don't need to. A few minutes of movement is enough to wake up my body and reset my mind.
Honestly? Most of the time, I don't even go to the pantry. I just stand up, stay by my seat, and spin. Right there. In the middle of the office. 😄
Here's the thing — I'm a plus-size woman. I know exactly what it's like to feel eyes on you. To feel like people are watching, judging, waiting for you to mess up.
In the office, if someone sees me spinning — that's it. That becomes my label. "The girl who spins a hoop in the office." A story that gets told at lunch, repeated in group chats, remembered forever.
So yes — I'm scared. I do it when no one's around. When the office is quiet. When I know I won't be seen.
But I still do it.
Even if it's just in secret. Even if it's just for a few minutes.
"I'm breaking something. Not a big rebellion. Not a loud statement. Just a small, quiet act of saying: I don't care. I'm going to move. I'm going to do this. For me."
And that? That already feels like a win.
I don't always feel brave enough.
There's something about being the person spinning a hoop in the middle of the office — whether it's by my seat or in the pantry — that feels... a little embarrassing.
When there are too many people around, I don't take it out. I don't want to become the centre of attention.
And yet — when I do it? When I actually take it out and spin?
It feels strangely exciting. Even thrilling.
Like I'm doing something I'm not supposed to — even though it's just a normal, healthy movement.
"Is it really inappropriate? Or is it just... different?"
That's the question I keep asking myself.
Maybe it's not about the place. Maybe it's about the permission we give ourselves to move — wherever we are.
So if you're someone who's thought about moving more during the day — but felt like it wasn't the "right" time or place — I see you.
You don't need the perfect space. You just need a few minutes, a little courage, and a hoop that fits in your drawer.
A hoop in the drawer. A few minutes of movement. And a little bit of courage.
That's how I move — one lunch break at a time. 💛
